Endued with Power
God has raised this Jesus to life and we are all witnesses of it. Exalted to the right hand of God, he has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit and has poured out what you now see and hear. Acts 2:23
Jesus said, "It is good that I go away- unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you - but if I go, I will send him to you. When he comes, he will prove the world wrong." John 16:7
The judgement is that the prince of this world now stands condemned. People sin because they do not believe in Jesus. The world doesn't understand righteousness because Jesus is with the Father and is seen no longer. And because people do not actually believe in Jesus, they don't understand that he is the One in you doing the work through you. Just like God was doing signs, wonders and miracles through Jesus, the world put him to death, because they considered it blasphemy that Jesus answered the high priest when they said he claimed to be the Messiah, the Son of God, Jesus replied, "you have said so." Jesus replied to all of them saying, "from now on you will see the son of man sitting at the right hand of the mighty one and coming on the clouds of heaven. Jesus was exalted lifted up to the right hand of the Father whom he received the promised Holy Spirit from and he pours it out to us. Just as Jesus received Holy Spirit from God the Father, he then gives us Holy Spirit to be received by him. When the Son is with the Father the Holy Spirit comes. The Spirit of Truth guides us in all truth. He will not speak on his own authority- he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. He will glorify the Son because it is from the Son that he receives what he will make known to you. All that belongs to the Father is the Sons. That is why I said the Spirit will receive from me what he will make known to you. God made the Jesus who you crucified both Lord and Messiah. ( Taken from Luke 24:45), The Son opens the mind of those who deny themselves to follow him so they can understand scripture. The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead on the 3rd day, and repentance for the forgiveness of sins will be preached in the Name of Jesus to all nations beginning at Jerusalem. You are all witnesses of these things. Jesus said, "I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power form on high. Acts 1:8, "You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." If we do not wait to be endued with power from on high, we will set out to be a witness without ever actually witnessing anything. Which would make us a false witness. Which is why Jesus said to wait until you are clothed with power from on high, stay where you are until he sends you the Spirit of Truth, your Advocate, the Holy Spirit then you can witness the Resurrection. Otherwise you will preach what you yourself do not know. You will worship what you do not know. The Samaritans worship what they do not know. They never repented, never turned from what they knew or the idols they were serving. They made their own gods. To this day they persist in their former practices. They neither worship the LORD nor adhere to the decrees and regulations, the laws and commands that the LORD gave the descendants of Jacob, whom God named Israel. Even while these people were worshipping the LORD, they were serving their own idols. To this day their children and grandchildren continue to do as their ancestors did. But true worshippers worship in Spirit and in Truth, they are the kind of worshippers the Father seeks. God is Spirit and his worshippers must worship him in Spirit and in Truth. To persist in your former way of life is the lie. It is not truth. True worshippers forsake their old customs, traditions, practices to follow truth. Truth sets us free. Peter told the Israelites to repent and be baptized in the authority of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of unbelief and the persistence of following old ways of living. And to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit, the promise is for you and your children and for all whom are far off, for whom the Lord will call. True baptism is to receive this message. True repentance is to humble yourself and believe the gospel. Those who worship in Spirit and in Truth are those whose life backs up what they say they believe. To have the belief without action is dead faith. To have action with no belief is dead works. To be doing all the things without repentance is manipulation. the Bible says manipulation is as witchcraft. It is not true freedom. Repentance is the foundation of believing the Gospel. If we do not start where Jesus finished, our whole life will be wasted trying to receive what he paid for by our own self effort. John baptized with water for repentance, which is to have a clear conscious toward God. But Jesus comes to baptize in Holy Spirit. And when you receive power from the Holy Spirit, you will be his witness. Remember, Jesus also received the Holy Spirit from the Father when he was exalted to Gods right hand. Just as he received so shall we receive. The Kingdom of Israel is restored when we receive power as the Holy Spirit comes on us to become Jesus' witnesses. For 40 days after Jesus resurrection he spoke about the Kingdom of God. When we seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness everything else will be given to us. Who is the righteousness of God? It is only through his Son that we are called sons of God, it is only through Christ Jesus that we are the righteousness of God. Apart from him we are nothing and can do nothing. But in him we can receive power as the Holy Spirit comes upon us to witness Jesus, the Resurrection and the life. Whoever believes this will never die.
